Notice to ParentsFebruary 4, 2004 Dear Residents and Parents, There are two reasons for this letter, one is to introduce myself to you; my name is Michael Mooney. I am the new Head Golf Professional / GM at Augusta Ranch Golf Club located in the Augusta Ranch Community. The other reason I am writing you is to let you know that potentially dangerous situations are arising at the course involving your children. What we have noticed is kids cutting through the golf course traveling to and from school. However they dont seem to understand the serious danger of being struck by golf balls. We have seen juniors walking directly in front of golfers hitting their shots. The children seem unaware that serious injuries or even death can occur from being struck by a ball traveling approximately 250 feet per second. We hope to avoid any incidents by asking you to inform your children of this dangerous situation. Please ask them to use appropriate walkways to and from school. Another way to increase awareness is to enroll your junior in one of our instructional programs, providing them with a better understanding of this safety issue. The other problem in which I need to address is the fact that during the winter months we sometimes encounter a course condition known as frost. When people walk (your juniors going to school) on the frost, the plant cells, which are frozen, can burst and eventually die off. Because of this, we do not allow any one on the course until the frost has lifted. As you may know maintenance of the turf grass is a scientific art and one of considerable expense. We at Augusta Ranch Golf Club succeed at providing our customers and the community with outstanding playing conditions and would not like to lose our valuable reputation because of damage to the course. Please understand our main concern at Augusta Ranch Golf Club is safety. Thank you in advance for your help in these matters. Your Neighbor, Michael Mooney PGA
