Gilbert School District News

Achievement test scores for Gilbert Public Schools have been number one in the East Valley for several years, and exceed both national and state averages.

Gilbert Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Bradley K. Barrett, has submitted an update to the District website. This first update covers a variety of topics in depth, including District goals, the calendar for the coming year, and school boundary changes.

School Registration

To register a student in the Gilbert Public Schools , parents must bring to their neighborhood school:

• Birth Certificate - This must be a state or county issued original or certified copy. A hospital or religious certificate will not be accepted.
• Proof of Residency - We must have a copy of proof on file in the form of a current utility bill, house closing papers or rental contract.
• Current Immunizations - Please contact the school health office for information regarding immunizations

This documentation is mandatory before your child may start school. If you are not sure what school your child should attend, you may contact any school for boundary information or our Planning and Development Department.

The boundary map for the new Desert Ridge High School, opened in the fall of 2002, is online.

The principal for Desert Ridge High School is Dr. Dan Coombs. Dr. Coombs was formerly Deputy Principle at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale.
